What is Dasvandh?

The word Dasvandh (also called Dasvant) comes from the Sikh tradition and means “one-tenth.” The practice was first introduced by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, who emphasized that wealth is not meant to be hoarded but shared. Later Gurus, especially Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, institutionalized this as a way for Sikhs to dedicate one-tenth of their income towards seva (selfless service), community growth, and helping the needy. Dasvandh became the backbone of building Gurdwaras, Langars (community kitchens), and supporting the poor and oppressed.

This principle, however, is not only limited to Sikhism. In Hindu traditions, we find similar teachings—where giving away a part of one’s wealth is seen as a sacred duty. For instance, in the Mahabharata, King Bali, despite being tested by Lord Vishnu in the form of Vamana (the dwarf Brahmin), willingly gave away all that he owned in the spirit of sacrifice. Likewise, many Hindu scriptures encourage the practice of Daan (charitable giving) as a way to purify wealth and uplift society. Across faiths, the essence remains the same: what we earn is not just ours—it is a trust from the Divine to be shared with others.

IndraQ’s Commitment

At IndraQ, we believe that success has true meaning only when it is shared. Inspired by the timeless principle of Dasvandh, we have launched the IndraQ Dasvandh Initiative. Every month, the company contributes 10% of its income towards causes that touch lives—whether it’s helping a child continue education, supporting medical treatment for those in need, or extending care to the elderly who have no one to look after them. This is not just corporate responsibility—it is our way of living the values of seva and compassion, carrying forward a tradition of giving that has sustained communities for centuries.

Why Participate?

When you choose to participate, you are not just donating—you are becoming part of a chain of kindness that has run through generations. Your contribution, whether big or small, is an act of seva that strengthens our community, creates hope where there was despair, and uplifts those who cannot stand on their own. Importantly, participation is completely voluntary. Your decision will never affect your job, performance, or compensation. But by choosing to give, you experience something far more valuable—the joy of knowing you made a real difference in someone’s life.

Together, as a family at IndraQ, let us carry forward the spirit of Dasvandh—because giving is not a loss, it is a blessing that multiplies in unseen ways.
